Switching Venetoclax from morning to evening

I have been on Venetoclax for 6 weeks now and am on 400mg daily. Had a few side effects which are now lessening but nausea remains. Usually starts up about 2 hours after taking tablets. I have been given anti nausea pills which do work but I do not want to take these indefinitely. So, after reading lots of posts I have decided it may be better to take pills after my evening meal which is more substantial than breakfast. How do I make the switch? Is it best to gradually move the timing forward? Advice please from anyone who has done this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You could do it gradually by moving the V to lunchtime initially and then introduce them after your evening meal but check that out with your doctor. I vary when I take them over several hours (depending what time I eat) but the best time for me has always been on a reasonably full stomach after my evening dinner. Can be tricky if I’m out for a meal. I find that time results in no side effects for me although in truth I hate seeing them lined up in front of me after a meal! 😏

I take everything after dinner because it makes me feel like crap any earlier. I’m on Ultra V which has as ONE of it drugs is venetaclax.

Hi,

I can’t offer advice on switching pill taking time but I’m 5 months into 400mg Venetroclax and I too had slight nausea 2 hours after taking them with breakfast. I found drinking plenty of water helped. Also I think my body has adjusted after this long and no more nausea.

I made the switch with my doctor's direction. It was explained to me that it is not acceptable to double dose venetoclax in a 24 hour period, and there is an 8 hour dose skipping measure to reset scheduling a dose.

Therefore if you adjust the time that you move a dose forward you do it any time after the 24 hour period, but, before an additional 8 hours pass (inside 32 hours).

E.g, If you took venetoclax at 9:30 AM on Monday, you would take your next dose after 9:30 AM and before 5:30 PM on Tuesday (say 4:59 PM).

You would then establish the reset dose at the new schedule time after 4:59: PM on Wednesday (say 8:00 PM).

My husband has been on V since Feb (7mts) and while he was told to take with food (either before or after a meal) he has found that the nausea is better if he takes them on an empty stomach so thats what he does. He takes them around 2pm and while he still has nausea, its not as bad as if it were on a full stomach.
