This may be an asinine question, but can I assume alcohol of any amount should be avoided with this treatment plan?

Thanks.

Grapefruit, Seville Oranges, Pomelos and Starfruit were all on the list to avoid when took Venetoclax. I was also taking Ibrutinib, but the list for that was a subset of the above.

I was allowed to have an occasional drink of alcohol. I kept that to one glass of wine when I did drink.

You should check the documentation that comes with the drug and ask your medical team for the latest on what is allowed for the official position.

All questions are valid, to help better understanding, however our responses are experience driven and most do not have medical qualifications.

all the best, rob

We have a pharmacy consult at 11 o'clock in the morning and I will ask that question we have the same therapy coming up

I have searched on line seeking guidance to the same question. The Cancer BC advice indicates that " moderate" amounts of alcohol does not appear to reduce the efficacy of Venetoclax. I have certainly enjoyed wine during these covid times while taking Venetoclax and experiencing good results. We are all different, tread carefully!

I was on I + V for 3 years and usually had a small glass of red wine each evening with no ill effects. Its important to keep your morale through all these treatments!

Good luck

According to Dr. Dave Mirkin, no amount of alcohol is safe. You can read his well-document opinion at: drmirkin.com/health/morehea...

Moderate amounts are fine. Keep in mind that you may be taking other medications as well.

I was finally able to speak to the pharmacist this morning and she did say that an occasional drink is OK but not on a daily basis a glass of wine or a beer occasionally are not contraindicated but it was mainly based on the fact that it could cause bleeding Based on that I would presume a glass of wine a couple of times a week would be acceptable

msccsm11,

Consider that any influence that you can regulate with regard to metabolization that occurs in your body is a advantage.

If you want greater results from the influence that you cannot control such as with venetoclax, exercise the control.

I chose to wait.

The 12 months went very quick.

Whether or not it made a difference, I do not know.

However, the probability of good measure did increase.

A key term in your request is that "of any amount".

I am sure that absolute restraint can be challenged reasonably and blessed by your physician if you crave a sip of Mouton Cadet 64 with your asparagus and brazed loin, yet I recommend that you not light the cigar after the aromatic ritual of passing it under the nasal draw through.

Focus more on the Maria Calla high tones during the Lakme Flower Duet.

Excellent answer. I live in wine country so that was very appropriate. Also reminded me on an episode of Hannibal. I appreciate your take on it!
