So sad...poor family...so many tragic stories.
Its very scary to look at that picture of a relatively young man who was a picture of health but for cll and dies from covid. It doesn't mean everyone with cll would suffer the same fate, there are a number of cases of healthy people without cll not surviving it either.
But my views have evolved and I am assuming the risk of me not surviving covid due to my cll is unacceptable, whatever that increased percentage risk might be, until hard data tells me otherwise.
I think any meaningful study of covid and blood cancer that will quantify our risk will be retrospective and too long from now to do us much good now.
So I am in agreement with your advice fell, stay home if possible if you have cll. I hope the data turns out to show our risk was not too much elevated over the general population, but just not taking that chance now.
I have been very private regarding my CLL and was able to hide the fact that I recently was undergoing chemo because I "didn't look sick." Well today I posted the article on my FB page and made a plea for people to take this seriously as there are many of us with Chronic Illnesses that don't look sick but could have dire consequences if we were to contract the virus.
Hi fell I am also from ontario, same age. I read the plea from his wife this morning, scary and sad. Since then I have had several close family members express their concern. I have been working all week, and while I have been trying to be safe I feel the time to stay at home and try to work from there has come.
Everyone be safe
Chris
A familial stranger. I can't imagine what his wife is going through now in isolation. My heart goes out to his family. The reports don't mention the kids being in isolation so they must be grown and living away. He has a facebook page...hell of a guitar player. RIP Sean Cunnington.
Thanks, Fell. How are you doing?
Hi Mystic,
Doing well, thanks (she says as she furiously knocks on wood!)
I have been self isolating for around two weeks. Hope that your hubby is feeling well 🙏
Very sad news indeed, but it does highlight risks and makes us all be perhaps a little more careful.
I would just like to add that there are a lot of wonderfully thoughtful people out there, doing some amazing things to help others at the moment and it’s good to hear these stories at this difficult time.
Fran 😉
Thank you for sharing the story. We should all be careful and stay at home.
As a CLL patient I certainly agree with the Stay at Home Theory. Here in New Zealand we have been in Lock Down in our bubbles for over a week now and emphasis is strongly on isolation from Every thing . People over 70 years of age are requested to not venture out at all--ask family / neighbours etc if essential items are needed from the shops . Having a large garden and fruit being produced at the moment for processing I am not finding this at all hard . If everything else fails we will just have to live on love !!
