Choices and Reality

Today I was called by a staffer from Gastro office and asked if I wanted to come next week for colonoscopy/endoscopy or postpone. I have chosen to postpone. While my previous oscopies have had to have polyps removed, I can only hope that the postponement will not be to the point of my having any symptoms in the regard to Gastro.

The reality of the higher risk in Drs. waiting rooms and building with elevators as well as the number of patients seen by the office staff and the staff that would be performing the procedures, can up the risk of exposure for them as well as patients.

So, reality, the outcome remains to be seen and requires me to be "steady at the helm" but, that has been the same path I have been on since 2001 diagnosis, so I have some sense of it not being abnormal for me.

I also realize the preparation for the procedure has been taken away and that is a bonus right now.

Tough call but I can't disagree with your thinking on an elective, albeit important procedure. I'm sure many of us will be making similar decisions in the days and weeks ahead. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for the end of April so I don't need to make that decision today, thankfully.

Next week I'm scheduled to receive my second Shingrex and Pneumonia vaccinations. The appointment is at 9AM at my GP's office which is in a large and modern facility on the first floor with high ceilings and wide corridors. I am going at this point as I think receiving these vaccinations is critical to my well being but I'm not looking forward to venturing out.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello cllady01

Good idea to postpone the "Go-lightly", :)

I will have to "Go Gator-ade" when i have to "Go". Message from Dr. is that Gatorade is better electrolyte-wise. Of course, either of those routes are not travelled without dread for the destination!

I am not unhappy about postponing the prep, for sure.
