CLL new Nocardia dx
Christinalyn, I am so sorry your are dealing with Norcardiosis, while I do not know a lot about it.
This is a place for you to share your situation if you would like to. There are other fungal infections, others have dealt with and reported here. We are open to hearing about what is happening in CLL patients. You have not received any replies to your question.
While you have not received and replies, the rarity of the disease may be the reason. It is not the case, however, that no one would be interested in your situation.
Nocardiosis is a rare disease, but, weakened immune systems as in CLL, can make it be something we need to be aware of.
The bit I have read about Norcardiosis is that it is an infection (fungal) that can be gotten from water or soil. So it is to our advantage to have the situation highlighted and to help us avoid it if that is possible.
Please stay with us and let us support you and share with you as you go through this struggle.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to my post. It has been 15 days and the exact species is still unknown, meaning we do not know if I am on the correct treatment yet. The brain scan is set for February 6, so soon we will know the Nocardia is disseminated. Yesterday I received a call from ID stating my culture is also growing fusarium. Another thing found in soil and water. ID does not know whether to treat me or not. I'm most definitely feeling lost.
Christinalyn, I understand your feeling lost. The intricacies of fungal infections and the rarity of them gives us pause. Your Drs. seem to be on the case and are sorting as fast as they can---the identification of the specifics is necessary to know what can be prescribed to treat.
I have sent you a PM (see Chat —will be flagged)
I am hoping you have family and friends who are near and can be with you in this tryng time--but do know there is support here when the message can get to our membership. Hoping for a fast discovery by the Drs. and treatment to clear up your invaders. Hang in there--patience becomes even more of a virtue in these times.
