I have been on Ibruitinib for the past 16 months. A good experience once the side effects settled. Recently ( have had this several times since being diagnosed in 2013) it seems that my iron is perhaps going low again . I will see the haematologist tomorrow as my normal 3 monthly appointment.Last time my WBC was 25 ( this treatment it started at 200).My new delivery of tablets is now just one biscuit coloured lozenge being the whole 420 mg. not one420mg capsule. My question is were the capsules enteric coated? I always assumed they were and having gastritis and reflux, thought that a good idea. However I looked at the make up of the tablet and it mentions iron dioxide. I am unable to take oral iron so wondered if anyone has any experience they could share.Wishing you all a happy healthy Christmas.

Hi, perhaps have a chat with a specialist pharmacist about this. The amount of iron Dioxide is likely to be so small in a tablet like this that it won’t effect most people. Also it’s a different chemical to that used in iron tablets. Your pharmacist will be able to look into this in more detail. I do know that a few people for example who are Lacoste intolerant have to be careful of excipients in some tablets but most of the time the excipients are in such low amounts they don’t effect most people. But as always specific advise for you as an individual should be taken from your professionals.

your unable to take oral iron or oral iron is not absorbed by you?

most iron tablets are ferrous sulfate. Next most are ferrous fumerate. Your body can't actually absorb a piece of actual plain iron. actually ferrous dioxide is a coloring agent in tablets and capsules. and it is used as combination coloring-not actually black
