Presented at the 23rd Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA), "a new survey has revealed patients’ perceptions of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and how the condition impacts their quality of life (QOL).
Patients reported delays in diagnosis, lack of support, severe fatigue, and impacts on both emotional well-being and their ability to work."

There's a higher incidence of Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) and Autoimmune Haemolytic Anaemia (AIHA) in those with CLL, due to the way CLL cells disrupt the process by which new antibodies/immunoglobulins are produced. Generally falls in our platelets and haemoglobin/red blood cell counts are due to increasing crowding of our bone marrow by CLL cells, along with increased filtering of platelets and red blood cells by enlarging spleens. Sometimes, however, these auto-immune conditions, where antibodies incorrectly label platelets and red blood cells for destruction by our immune system, may be responsible for some or even most of the falling platelet and/or red blood cell/haemoglobin counts.
