My brother has just told me his GP has told him he is pre CLL . His lymphocytes slowly rising and he has low neutrophils. Do any of you know a CLL specialist in Miami ? Is it unusual that we are both members of the CLL family ? I’m a bit shocked that he is not seeing a specialist .

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is the best in Miami. He should ask for his blood work report and set up an appointment with a CLL specialist.

Well if you are referring to MLB which is a stepping stone to CLL- Your brother may never need treatment. Just to be monitored. The breaking point is 5000. Above means CLL. Even at that, about 30 percent that get diagnosed in a year may also never need treatment. Also it is rare but CLL can run in the family. My Dad had Lymphoma, there is a concern about my brother and I have CLL. But with all that said, if treatment comes there are many avenues to pursue. STAY STRONG J.R

A complete false alarm folks ...my brother (who is often obtuse,) was quoting something he read without letting me know it was a quote ! I thought he was telling me what his GP had said about him . When I asked him had he had a FISH test done and he replied that he doesn’t eat much fish I realised we were not on the same page at all at all 😂 !! Thank you for responding nonetheless. A fright and a good chuckle had here , especially about the fish .

I am new to CLL too, so not up on all the degrees of it. Having siblings with CLL is rare but i also have a brother with CLL. He was diagnosed several years ago and is in remission now.

Sorry to hear your brother also has CLL Ibowes but glad to hear he’s in remission. The issue of familial risk is a concern to us all.

It would appear that Emerfly’s brother thankfully doesn’t have CLL and somehow this was a misunderstanding.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, but went to see Dr. Alves at Slyvester for a second opinion on a bone marrow transplant. He was the first one to recommend Imbruvica to me - this was back in 2015.
