Nearing two years on Imbruvica ( no real problems) but recently I've been experiencing an almost heartburn like pain with my first bite of almost anything. It goes away after a minute or two. Makes no difference if it's a spicy food or bland. Big bit or small. Fortunately it doesn't happen with liquids as my morning coffee and 5 pm bourbon go smoothly, as does my 4 quarts of water daily. Any one else experiencing this?

Heartburn
Have you discussed this with your doctors? It certainly needs further investigation. Might be an obstruction that fluids get by, but solids effect...
GERD is very complex and other things can mimic it...

GERD is most common medical term but as Cllcanada- Chris says this requires good medical investigation to get to the actual cause and then treatment. Some docs will just prescribe antacids, Nexium or Omeprazole but all those different drugs are not wise for long term use, so if it does not resolve promptly keep engaging with your medical team to find the solution.

Is kimchee one of the spicy foods you eat? When I get a sputter of "heartburn," I quickly eat a couple forkfuls of kimchee, and the sensation goes away within minutes. No damaging side effects, as with antacids, and delicious. For those who don't like kimchee, sauerkraut can provide the same relief. Since adding a little kimchee to my salads, I haven't had any reflux. Hope it can be this easy a fix for you.
No offense intended but I'll deal with severe acid reflux before I would either smell or eat kimchee.
I've had severe reflux before, treated daily with Aciphex. What I'm experiencing now is just a very short in duration bubble in my esophagus with the first bite...after a couple minutes of discomfort it's gone.
To each his/her own. My preference is to turn to natural food remedies rather than drugs that carry side effects with them. Fortunately, I love sauerkraut and kimchee.
When a child, I used to help my grandmother add pickling spices to jars filled with the potential of yummy dilled pickles and sauerkraut, so I grew up with these flavors and aromas. I consider myself fortunate to have had exposure to these flavors early on so I didn't have to learn to acquire appreciation for them later in life.
Maybe if you view them as "medicine" that is cheaper and less toxic to the system, you could close your eyes and tolerate a taste? Then again, if the feeling is fleeting, live with it and accept the consequences? Either way, hope you feel well.
I had persistent GERD .. very painful .. and omeprazole did nothing after a while. My gastroenerologist (forgive my spelling .. how often does one spell that?) prescribed Dexilant which is fantastic. I find many docs have never heard of it. (I have a bad join between my esoph and stomache thus my GERD).
