Hello, new here. I'm hoping to get some information regarding my father's latest bloodwork. He is now showing high prolymphs and low platelets. He's not seeing the hemotologist until July and I'm concerned that the CLL is transforming to PLL. Please let me know what you think. TIA!!

CLL/PLL?
Your Dad would need advanced testing, but PLL carries a rapidly rising lymphocyte count and prolymphs above 55%...
PLL Richter's is exceptionally rare and patients feel just awful with very intense B symptoms, rapidly enlarging nodes and spleen.
I have known many Richter's patients, since I am one.... and I have only known one PLL transformation, in the last 10 years.
As always call the doctor to get clarification...

Are his previous results the handwritten ones on the sheet?
If so, these results are not very different from each other. The main difference is the platelet count but as with all these results, it’s the trend that’s important rather than any single result.
I wouldn’t be worried about the small numbers of prolymphs or atypical lymphs reported on here. CLL cells can have some variation in size and the amount of cytoplasm so they are sometimes classified as prolymphs or atypical lymph’s by the automated analysers.
Might be worth getting another blood test nearer his appointment just to check the picture or trend and then discuss with the Dr.
Let us know.
Hi. I have PLL and I’m being treated with Ibrutinib. I have been told I’m in remission but lately my neutrophils have dropped to 0.3 so I may have to stop taking it which is scary. Please let us know how your dad gets on.
Take care. Cindy.
