I am a newbie to essential oils, and just wondering if anyone else is diffusing or using these oils. (I love Thieves, lemongrass, lavender...)

Hi Kathy, please please be aware that some essential oils can have an adverse effect on medications, as they can cause meds to travel through your body quicker ie stimulates ....

Lavender is a very good oil, helps to calm and relax. You can either mix it with a base oil or directly use it on your body. Also very good for insomnia. Just put a few drops on your pillow. Rose is also a very good oil used with a base oil.......

If you are have aromatherapy hopefully your therapist did a strength test on you as well as good background information on a medical form.......

Aromatherapy oils cannot cure and a Therapist hopefully would never say they can cure you...... it is purely holistic treatment.

Take care

My husband has CLL, and we are just diffusing these oils. I am too nervous to place it on his body even with a carrier oil. I have asked our cancer team, and they don't seem too knowledgeable about this. My husband is on Ibrutinib.

I have read that lavender is an anticoagulant and is contraindicated in several medical instances, so platelet levels would be something to consider--ask your CLL Dr.

botanical-online.com/englis...

I know this is just one site, but I heard in passing a news report about lavender (was not alert enough to follow up for specifics).

I found a small lavender sachet pack helped with my nausea after an operation (Some anethestics make me nauseaous on waking.) A medic in the recovery room gave me the commercial sachet pack (small in paper envelope) to get me into the wheelchair and out of their care. It worked.

So, I would hope the amount used--may be a factor--and oil infusing may be a totally different ballgame--more invasive, perhaps?

Thanks, I will ask when we have our appt. in about 10 days. As an anticoagulant, would you have to ingest the oil in caplet form??

Good website....he does not have the issues that they talked about. We usually just diffuse overnight....but I am going to be more careful about the drops....etc.

Kathy, CLL has the involvement of platelet levels which control the coagulation of blood. Ibrutinib is one CLL treatment which can cause bleeding--just saying, please talk with hemo/onco about platelet levels which can/do become depleted as CLL-time goes on.

And I just read your posting saying your husband is on Ibrutinib!

I recently found out Anise oil for myself. Don't know about you but it felt like earth and heaven in comparison to other oils. And it's cheaper a bit:) Kind of food from any point of view[url=oilscenter.com/anise-essent... Essential Oil[/url].

I just had an essential oil massage yesterday... I spent most of today lying in bed... I thought it was depression.. until I tied the relaxing massage with essential oils... whole body -- CLL; my reaction was not what I wanted...I wasn't tense, etc.; seems the massage had carry-over... I slept like a baby but didn't want to crawl out of bed... felt listless... will want different lotions, not oils next time.. Just think your body is an organ that absorbs so much... for me, it was too much!
