35 year old with CLL

my 35 year old son was diagnosed with CLL in September. on watch and wait, though now lymph nodes are enlarging. Would like him to see a doctor that has experience with his age group.

Hi Kasren. My daughter at age 29 was diagnosed almost 3 years ago this month. She was diagnosed from a node biopsy on the back of her neck. She has been on watch and wait since and goes for 3-6 month appointments for checkups. She is now 32 and just had a baby this past December. Her WBC count actually dropped after pregnancy to the 11,000 range from like 16,000. I know this diagnosis must be very hard for all of you. My daughter seems to put the diagnosis in the back of her mind but my husband and I live with the fears each day. I try to cope by realizing that many people deal with chronic illnesses all around us and that life can sometimes be hard and you just have to keep moving forward. I hope and pray that if and when treatment could be needed that the research has progressed even further. Just make sure you connect with a CLL specialist or at least know of resources and doctors if your sons illness should progress past the needs of a regular hemotalogist. Also stay up to date on educating yourself. My husband and I often go to informations sessions specifically for CLL. It's important for your son to have a health advocate if he himself doesn't seem to be too involved in his diagnosis. Just hang in and educate and just keep living. You will have a new normal but time will help.
