It can be.. certain nodes around the lungs, heart, diaphram ...also an enlarged spleen might have an effect, although it tends to be more stomach related...feeling of fullness.

Should see your CLL doctor... don't let it go.

I have an enlarged spleen which has slowly grown over last 3 months,

I see my doctor at hospital beginning of March when I have a new blood test.

Does an enlarged spleen mean treatment will be necessary?

Thanks for response

What is your HB? Low HB can lead to increased breathlessness on exercise, walking etc.

Anaemia and/or infection amongst other things will increase breathlessness. Best to have it checked out.

Best wishes,

Hi Cllcanada , I’ve noticed you referring to fungus a couple of times. I was with dermatologist yesterday as I have skin fungus and he has given me rx for 2 weeks of sporanox. I was referred by CLL specialist. I’ve been very breathless , feeling like a have a chest and throat infection but don’t according to my GP . I’m beginning to wonder if I do have a lung fungus . I feel very poorly . Can you recommend any reading material for me ? I won’t know the results of my full body MRI and genetic markers etc until my next specialist visit on 20 March. The waiting is torture . I started with a therapist the day before yesterday to help me deal with the process of waiting. It is so counter intuitive . I’d very much appreciate any info and reassurance. Thank you . Emer

I have aspergillus pneumonia since the beginning of December and it won't leave.. treatment can be months, often a year...or it must be removed surgically...but not in my case.

I had no cough initially, but do now, as well as sinusitis and ear problems.

I can walk about 1000 metres now, but then have a coughing fit, and must sit immediately or falll... cough eventually subsides...

There are many fungal infections, but the two common to CLL are PCP now called PJP and aspergillus.

GPs think viral or bacterial..rarely fungal.. but it is more common in CLL and HIV etc. than most others...

Here are a couple of links...

If it gets worse, get into the ER where they will do the proper tests...

Thank you for the information . I will read it and add to the long list of questions for my next specialist visit. I am so sorry you can’t get rid of your aspergillus pneumonia. I hope it improves soon . Take care. Emer

Could be. Could also be related to a cardiac problem, lung issue, or infection. This is not something to guess about. Start with your appointment and labs. If that doesn't reveal a cause ask your doctor about further testing, a cardiologist, or a pulmonologist.

I’ve been being treated on an off since 2014, and I am definitely and often short of breath, even just going up stairs. I certainly could be in better cardio shape, but yeah, in my experience it’s part of the deal. Just keep talking to your Dr. and care team.

Hi Frances Mary I too felt short of breath with a very bad cough. I went to the doctors and they listened to my heart and lungs and they sounded fine but then a couple of days went back in because I felt awful and they said I had pneumonia of the lower lobe of the lung. Felt bad for a couple of days. I was put on a z pac and I was taking mucinex during the day and at night promethazine with codiene to help me sleep. I feel short of breath after I walk my dog but don t know if it is from Cll or not.
