New here. Have cll since 2009. Wbc been staying in the 20's. Wbc in April was 18000 now 48000. Been having flu symptoms, pain on sides, very fatigue. Going to new cancer Dr this week. Anyone else wbc jumped this much in 5 months?

My WBC jumped massively when I had a serious infection truff which is why it isn’t a stand alone useful indicator of CLL progression. Are you able to tell us more about your ALC (absolute lymphocyte count), platelets, red blood cells/haemoglobin and neutrophil levels?

It could be that you have an infection which has fuelled the WBC increase and you mention flu symptoms. Speak to your doctor about this and get a more rounded picture of what’s going on with the rest of your blood results.

Best wishes,

Newdawn

Really feeling for you! Moving is disruptive enough when you are well but the strains and stresses when you are not really tests you tonthe limit. Just settling into the local area and getting services etc organised can be a trial! Really hope you are managing ok and that your new local GP is good. I found it really helpful to have more of a schedule which allowed two things each day during the moving process, a couple of hours in the afternoon to "crash" and making a nutritional evening meal after my breakfast! I am about to move again in the next 3/4 months so l will test my theory out again on myself! Best wishes😊

Good luck on your move..in the type to pack in one day, move and unpack in a day...can't stand clutter. Lol

I believe that can happen, Newdawn. In my last year my white count went from 33,000 to 94,000 as of two weeks ago. ALC then was 88,000. I got very sick April 1 with a cold and sinus infection. Took antibiotics. Then while in Hawaii a tear duct burst (what an ordeal) and I dealt with antibiotics for about three weeks. Then in August I had surgery on the tear duct and still have an implant creating a new pathway for tears to leave my eyes. I wonder if in the last six months with all I've had and still having the implant has anything to do with my WC going up drastically. I see that specialist tomorrow to find out when he'll be taking the implant out. Any ideas.

I have had jumps due to infections - the WBCs are needed to fight infections and it is surprising how far they can jump to do this. At a later blood draw (when I was free of infection) they were back down. So maybe you are fighting something? Let's hope so

I have also had huge jumps when on steroids

Hey everyone...thks for all the replies. WS sick for 8 days...started feeling betyer, still very tired..now I feel horrible...dead tired, nauseous, achy...got an appt with new cancer Dr on the 23rd. Tried going to urgent care and no one will do anything. If I have a bug could be viral or bacterial or could be something else. Hanging in there hoping I make it to the 23rd. Hope everyone is doing well.

Truly hope everything goes well for you on the 23rd. I know what horrible tired feels like. Sounds like you had a terrible time at Urgent Care. They won't prescribe unless they feel it's a bacterial infection, so not surprised. You will make it to the 23rd, so hang in there.
