Hi, has anyone had bariatric surgery after being diagnosed with cll.

I've had major abdominal surgery whilst on w and w. The surgeon had to consult my haematologist prior. No problems and no affect on lympocycte count.

Having bariatric surgery can disqualify you from some clinical trials. It can also affect your absorption of medication that could be helpful to you in your fight against the disease.

The Bariatric surgeon has suggested the sleeve gastrectomy would be best suited to me.

He will be consulting my CLL heamatologist first.

I was diagnosed with CLL 6 years ago. I had gastric sleeve procedure last October while still on W&W; no problems at all.

Watch and Wait.... now called Active Surveillance...

It is a period of monitoring CLL by your doctor, often annually, but might be at 6 months or 3 month intervals.... Exams usually involves bloodwork, 20 questions, and a poke and prod...
