Beware artichoke soup!

I ate a bowl of delicious jerusalem artichoke (sun chokes) soup in a restaurant 3 days ago and am still suffering. I looked it up and apparently it is the most indigestible thing ever. (Some chefs would not put it on the menu) Digestive havoc. Indigestion, heartburn, but most of all colon irritation and wind and it is still going on. No idea if this is exacerbated by CLL. But you have been warned....

I think you are refering to Jerusalem artichoke, which is actually a tuber... not the multi leafed globe variety...

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jer...

Jerusalem artichokes are not an artichoke nor have any connection with Jerusalem, but they are a huge gas producer...

hope it passes... 💩💨💩 and thanks for the warning...

But I LOVE artichokes. Is it the high fiber or the chemical makeup?

As pointed out above I should have said Jerusalem artichokes. It is a complex carbohydrate called Inulin which the gut struggles with. See Internet....

You must eat these with caution. Summer and Winter savoury are the favoured herbs to deal with the gas and bloating. I have just planted all three in my allotment.
