I just had a spigot installed in fact a double PICC line... one is for IV antibiotics the other for my CLL Merlot cure... works great Jeff...

No pain...they are being used more and more in Canada now for infusions, chemotherapies...etc they just leave them in for 6 months...
Install was about 5 minutes under a local anesthetic, then the catheter position is verified by Xray...
They are flushed with saline and must be wrapped to shower... dressing changed periodically... I was amazed at how simple it was...
blood draws take under 10 seconds...
Certainly the answer if you have lots of IVs and are being fed intravenously... as was my case...
Ports are probably a better choice in some cases... since they are under the skin, less likely to have infections...
