Anybody else get muscle spasms? Not from too much exercise...just randomly after moving a certain way. I get them in my foot, calf, arm. I'm 44 y.o. at stage 1 and pretty stable for a year.

Muscle spasms
'Charley Horse' muscle cramps are fairly commonly reported by CLL patients, I had them for a time. Try doubling how much water you drink in a day, and see if they decrease in time...
I have just recently started to get them in my hands, but I think it might be attributed to too much time on the iPad... 😆
You should discuss these with your CLL doctor...

Yes...I have the same thing! I was diagnosed in May last year...I'm now 47 - on w&w. Don't know which 'stage', but have some swollen glands throughout and 'moderate bone marrow infiltration'. I'm working full time as a teacher, so I'm on my feet most of the day. I pace the floorboards often in the night, trying to get rid of cramps in my feet and legs. My doctor doesn't think it's related to CLL. But my podiatrist said to stretch my calves before I go to bed. He also recommended 'rolling' a frozen bottle of water beneath each foot to reduce swelling before bedtime. Hope this helps and you find relief. It's such a drag, especially when you need all the sleep you can get! Jules
Thanks for the reply Jules! I will stretch my calves more.
Well...I'm not sure if 'stretching' does the trick....I had some crazy foot cramps today in the middle of the shopping centre. So I took off my shoes and went barefoot until they subsided. Luckily, people are pretty casual here - even flipflops are considered 'dressy'. Please keep posting as you find more info. I'm keen to know! Jules
The only things I can say about the night time leg cramps was they got worse as my CLL progressed, and then largely vanished after just my 1st round of FCR. Have only had x2 recurrences since and that was after not looking after myself in the evening after far too much physical work in the daytime. Hydration, raising/supporting the legs whilst sitting in the evening, and warm baths all seemed to help when I had a problem. Also possibly Tonic water helps - more liquid if nothing else (I've now started drinking that at the w/e as I've gone alcohol free for the FCR duration - have now lost the taste for alcohol - suspect I can get it back though)
Best Regards,
Ernest
I got severe cramps in my hamstrings usually when I was in bed or sitting. My vitamin B12 level was low so I was given monthly B12 shots. This froze up my shoulders so I stopped having them after 6 shots. I have not had the problem since.
I am stage zero and have been for 3 years. I get spssms in spurts, sometimes lasting months. I get them in my legs, feet, neck, side ribs and center of my back. If I wanted to, I could cause a spasm on my own by simply moving a certain way. Suddenly, they go away for awhile and will mysteriously reappear. I have tried to analyze a cause; food, exercise, etc., but have not figured it out. My potassium and magnesium levels are normal. I will discuss this with my hematologist in May.
My husband was experiencing dreadful cramps in his calves and feet randomly after getting into bed. B12 levels normal. We never figured it out but they haven't returned after chemo. Hope they never do!
Yes, I've been on Ibrutinib for 11 months now, and I can pull / spasam the muscle in my bicep, just shaving ! Back muscles and back muscles fire off just as easily. Leg cramps in my sleep will wake you up in a real hurry.
Here too. legs, feet, biceps
I often get cramps (same as muscle spasms?) in my feet, soon after I go to bed. It's usually just the right foot, and just the little toe and the one next to it. Very strange - only been getting it this last year or so, as my CLL has progressed. Not sure if it's the CLL or just me getting older...
It usually stops if I push the toes upwards quite strongly, but sometimes I need to get out of bed to do that.
Hi there I get them all the time in my chest, upper back and if I set in the same spot for a while I get them in my angles so I have to set that spot until there go away.
