As is mentioned in the comments, if you are not feeling well after travelling overseas, be sure to inform your doctor of where you've been travelling. Push for a referral to a specialist in exotic diseases if you feel you are not getting anywhere.

Thanks Dick,

I've cross referenced our respective posts. Unfortunately, with our increasing disruption of the environment and greater global mobility, the impact of these diseases is most unlikely to lessen. Much, much better for anyone to avoid infection - particularly the immune compromised.
