Hi, mi 6 months old son is about to start eating solids. He has biliary artresia and a kasai done when he was 22 days old. The nutricion team told me he has no restrictions on his diet and he can eat anything. Any suggestion on things that could help his liver to continue functioning well? Or any thing that is better to avoid? Thank you

No restrictions in diet...you can give Ayurvedic medicines as a supplement for liver functions to improve like Syrup Liv 52 from Himalaya company....

Hi Thomas 2...My son is 15 month old now and got kasai when he was 55 days old. Doctor told us also that no restriction in diet but he has given Simyl MCT oil to add in his food. Is it safe to give ayurvedic medicine Liv 52 on our own. Is this medicine for liver functioning or good bile flow or should we consult some ayurvedic doctor. Can we go for homeopathy medicine also.

Sir basically I am a Allopathy doctor and we don't believe in other system of medicine and if you ask your allopathy Dr,sure he will not advice Ayurvedic medicine but being a father I consulted Ayurvedic doctor and he has advised Liv 52,2ml 2 times a day,I am giving since last 10 months, now my son is 15months old, whether it really works we don't know but as a supplement I give,in allopathy there is no supplement to improve liver function, my sons liver enzymes are reducing slowly so it may be a natural course of the disease or may be because of this medication...Mct oil is given as a food supplement and it has nothing to do with liver development...

My son is also 15 months old growing good in all fields but doctor doesn't comment anything about future. I feel very depressed sometimes when i think about prolonged antibiotics and other medicines. Actually my son's stool colour is also not yellow every time. Colour varies a lot. It is pale yellow or off white with green strands or sometimes muddy colour. Everyday i think that when will things come to normal & when will these monthly blood tests & follow up with doctor & medicines will get stop. From which doctor /hospital you are taking treatment. Can you advise the best doctor in Delhi for this problem.

Hello, thanks for posting this, I think if your son's nutrition team have said there are no restrictions on his diet that is good, and just encourage him to try new things and enjoy solid food and then you can look at a healthy diet. I hope weaning goes really well for your son.
