Hi, yes our son had iron deficiency, we had it in liquid format, so gave it via syringe. Prob on it for a year/2 then Hb levels were high enough that able to take him off it in the summer & touch wood levels have stayed up. How old is he?
Hi Joey, like skibuds son your little boy may take it in liquid form better than swallowing a pill which some children have difficulty in doing, I suggest asking your GP. Also it may help giving him food that is rich in iron such as, •Liver.
•Meat, fish and tofu.
•Iron-fortified breakfast cereals or bread.
•Eggs.
•Pulses and beans.
•Nuts and seeds.
•Dried fruit - such as dried apricots, prunes and raisins.
•Wholegrains - such as brown rice
I hope this helps - Jacquie
Hi,
Yes my daughter has iron deficiency. She is currently taken liquid iron twice a day to get her levels up. Her oncologist did tell me there is a condition called anaemic due to chronic disease. My daughter does have PFIC3, so she might have that. Because she is responding very slowly to the iron supplements. Definitely try another form of iron supplements, because some of them can make you very nauseated and constipated.
Good luck
Karen
