What was the context? Was it an abbreviation on medical notes. Health professionals often talk in initials!
As Linda said, I knew it as the Family Heart Association (or, to be more precise, The Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Association) founded by patients back in 1983 to help people with this common but hardly known condition. Today F.H. is believed to affect between 1 in 300 and 1 in 500 families in the UK but the majority have never heard of it. If this might be your family, please contact HEART UK for more information. It saved my life.
