High HDL & High LDL/Statin will be negative for liver right? My liver enzymes are elevated already.

Doctor did my bloodwork this past Monday. Checked everything. Not looking forward to that bill. Results are High on Lymphocytes, on White Blood Count, on SGPT and both HDL and LDL.

My question is, won't statins negatively impact my liver? I've read online that they do and because of my already high reading of liver enzymes should I not take them?

He's calling in a Rx for the cholesterol issue today. By the way, yesterday was my first day on Wellbutrin. Taking it for depression more than anything, but wondering how this is all going to mix for good or bad?

Generally, I'm all for natural & holistic & green but lately I've been so fed up with my lack of sleep and general mood that I talked myself into asking for help from the doctor so here I am. I may get off all my supplements for the time being too to just make sure nothing else if messing with my liver. Should I do that? Ashgawanda, Black Cohosh, and Chasteberry I take for perimenopausal symptoms and have taken it for the last two months so maybe that's messing with my liver now?

At your age your doctor need to do a risk analysis with your blood numbers, first offer life style change, after another test may be medication?

By the way please explain this "He's calling in a Rx for the cholesterol issue today."?

Take care.

he called in a statin but I told the nurse I did not want to fill that Rx because I read how statins can negatively affect the liver and should be avoided if your liver enzymes are already elevated.

Some supplements/drugs can cause liver problems and yes statins do have a number of side effects. You may need regular liver function tests. The fact sheet that comes with the tablets should say or ask your pharmacist who will know what interacts with what. Good luck!
