Hey all! I stumbled across the above discussion last night (when i couldnt sleep!) Have a read and let me know your thoughts? I do suffer from insomnia, irregular menstrual cycles and obviously high cholesterol, ldl and lpa. Am thinking if it’s worth trying Pregnenolone at a low dose, see if helps? I have no doubt my 4-5 hours sleep over these last couple of years is having a negative impact on my health...albeit slowly.
Would appreciate some input if anyone can provide?
Thank you

Please go for a quick blood check at your local chemist first to look at the numbers and then go to your GP for a full blood check before deciding on supplement or medication. Look at life style change and regular medication.
Not sure about insomnia although I suggest reading the book Lights Out.
With regard to Lp(a) I found that Vitamin C lowered it. Try taking at least 1000mg per day and perhaps integrating it into your diet eg eat a grapefruit with breakfast
Niacin also helps lower Lp(a) but does even more. It has been used to help people with anxiety disorders and, when taken just before bedtime, it helps people sleep. Read here:
I have achieved optimal blood work biometric markers through a strict adherence to daily exercise - alternating between HIIT (High intensity interval training) and resistance (weight training), and a whole foods, plant-based diet (Mediterranean Diet).
The biggest thing is you must give up sugar and simple carbohydrates to normalize your hormonal balance. Watch this 14 minute video:
Until you make a commitment to eat right and exercise daily, all other interventions will be band-aid solutions, especially pharmaceutical drugs that often create new medical issues for every one that they solve.
By the way - the medical system is designed to treat acute illnesses with pharmaceutical drugs and surgery. They are not a 'wellness' system that create a plan for individuals to follow in order to 'prevent' illness. You must take personal responsibility for your health and it begins by having a good diet and exercising daily. Go see a naturopathic doctor if you want someone to provide wellness and lifestyle guidance.
Good luck.
