I've had problems with taking statins but now taking rosuvastatin and I feel fine no problems after 12 months.

Going to start taking Q10 as I feel tired and thanks to this site it has good press.

Statins also block Vitamin K2 - which in itself can cause heart issues or blocked arteries - see link below

Wondering if you have had your thyroid checked ? In days of old people with raised cholesterol had their thyroids treated

You know, I agree. I have had Hashimotos Autoimmune Hypo Thyroid since I am 34 or so. My LDL has been elevated, thus my total cholesterol appears higher.

Sept. 2016 my endocrinologist put me on 5mg of Rosuvastatin, and I started with minor back pain. This is the newest statin on the market and the strongest.

Protein was also detected in my urine, which is a side effect of that drug. (Drugs.com)

I asked to be removed from it as I was diagnosed with a kidney disorder - how can we distinguish the kidney from the drug?

I have also had terrible troubles with statins, especially Atrouvastatin.

I agree, and just my thoughts, check your thyroid and urine protein spilling.

Check with your doctor about the COQ 10, although the health food store recommended it to me.

I notice you are not on the Thyroid Forum - great place to be and to learn more about the jolly old thyroid ! There are over 77,000 members ! Am wondering if you are optimally treated for your thyroid if your Cholesterol is still raised. Low T3 can often be the culprit - the ACTIVE thyroid hormone - which is rarely if ever tested within the NHS. The T4/Levo needs to convert into the Active T3 which it rarely does well with Hashimotos. How much are you taking ?

Just as an aside - the Thyroid and the Kidney are on the same meridian in Eastern Medicine. I have nodes/cysts on my kidneys that match the ones on my thyroid

I too have Hashimotos having been diagnosed in 2005 here in Crete. I am still learning and tweaking my dose and supplements ....

I'm glad you don't have any side -effects yet. Keep in mind that statins are a band aid solution to cover up an underlying condition. The best remedy is always dietary and lifestyle modification so you don't have to take statins.
