I had triple bypass March 2015. I needed 5 stents afterward in 2 separate angioplasty procedures. First month after surgery is hell. It gradually gets better.

This procedure has been performed millions of times around the world. It is almost routine surgery. That said, off the pump is better than 'on the pump'. Ask your doctor what that means.

Make sure you get plenty of social support, there are times of anxiety afterward.

Bypass is a temporary solution, you must change your lifestyle 180 degrees afterward. Google the 'Pritikin diet' and follow it to the letter. Start walking gradually each day and build it up. Today after my personal lifestyle changes, I'm in the best shape of my life. I'm a 54 year old male. I play ice hockey once or twice a week in addition to 3-4 days of high intensity interval training. I could not fathom such a workout regimen in the days following my surgery.

Read all of my posts starting with'getting off Statins'. Have faith, stay positive, take vitamin D, which increases seratonin in your brain, and visualize yourself the picture of health 12 months after surgery. Keep happy, optimistic people around you.

Good luck and God bless.

Some people feel better after having bypass surgery than they did before. From what I've heard everyone has different results. I had quadruple bypass surgery four months ago and I have my ups and downs. Firstly, I have to say that everyone needs rehab to teach them how to move. I didn't think I needed it but it is Essential or you will put pressure on your chest and seperate your chest by how you move your arms and your other movements like sitting down, standing up, lying down and getting up. It's very important. It's also Important to ask your doctor how you're going to feel after that. I got some feelings that were normal but some might not be. I'm still getting some things I question so I ask my doctor. Like putting a new part into as machine/car the body has to "adjust" to it. Keep on top of it. Any questions Ask your doctor!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
