I have just been diagnosed as level 8 cholesterol and 150/90 blood pressure. Shock horror! I am slim, lead an active life and eat healthy home-cooked food although I do like chocolat, puddings with cream and things cooked with butter. I am finding the information on diet somewhat variable. Advice appreciated.

Diet for cholesterol needed
I am afraid you need to offer more information!!
What was the reason for blood cholesterol test? General health?
Blood cholesterol and blood pressure can go up as we age and this may not be a problem for some people. Food intake control, watching out for free and hidden sugar and regular exercise can help towards ah healthy life. Green leaf veg, fish, eggs, Indian veg and Indian specie can also help to lower blood numbers if necessary. Healthy eating? you need to identify the hidden numbers.
Well it seems to me that the answer is very simple ... Cut out ' chocolate puddings with cream and things cooked with butter ' ! !

Do daily yoga
Go to bed earlier and get up earlier and go for walks
Re-test in six weeks and then post here. All will be fine
That's my New Year resolution... Go to bed earlier and get up earlier and also to change my diet. The Pritkin Diet is definitely one way to go. I would also include taking olive oil/ extra virgin coconut oil daily, 2 tablespoons, added to salads or bread or coconut oil whipped into coffee they are heart healthy and aid lowering cholesterol. After reading recently about research into chickpeas I hope to try to add in about half a cup daily in soups, salads, stews and hummus as it helps to balance insulin levels which I hope might help blood pressure readings.
