Exactly, unfortunately scare mongering patients into taking statins is rife. As you rightly say we need to say ' no'

Haven't read it all yet but just been listening to Dr Mark Porter on R4. they've had some similar threads of late. It's only too easy for even rational people to get carried away on a fashion.

Another point in the article is the Hippocratic oath. I'm not sure medics actually take it but certainly subscribe to it. It really takes up about a page of A4 but starts off more or less "do no harm".

There's increasing evidence that FOR SOME GROUPS statins are not appropriate. We must still rely on our GPs to make a valued judgement on that. Fortunately mine is really turned on. :)
