Please take a look at the avoe link.

You can buy single vitamin D supplements or vitamin drops containing vitamin D (for use by under-fives) at most pharmacies and supermarkets. Women and children who qualify for and already participate in Healthy Start can get free supplements containing vitamin D.

See the Healthy Start website for more information about the scheme.

What happens if I take too much vitamin D?

If you take vitamin D supplements, do not take more than 25 micrograms (0.025mg) a day, as it could be harmful. However, taking less than this is unlikely to cause any harm.

Your body doesn't make too much vitamin D from sun exposure, but always remember to cover up or protect your skin if you are out in the sun for long periods.

Taking too many vitamin D supplements over a long period of time can cause more calcium to be absorbed than can be excreted.

The excess calcium can be deposited in and damage the kidneys. Excessive intake of vitamin D can also encourage calcium to be removed from bones, which can soften and weaken them.

This seems to be a comprehensive guide to Vit D, including levels.

Why are you not convinced that it's osteoarthritis? Did you have a blood test?

All the trouble i am having has started since taking statins i have had one thing after another

and when my bloods for vitamin d came back at 17 thought that this is probably due to statins can they cause your levels to drop .

Also my left upper arm is painful if i have to use both arms to do housework i am in complete agony for a minute after and during whatever i am doing .

If you live in the UK, I guess there's a good chance your vitamin D level is low anyway. Perhaps take some cod liver oil? And have some time in the sun without sun screen, (if we ever get any summer). There are a lot of vit D supplements on the market.

I don't like taking NSAIDS, they have too many side effects. So many people find that statins give them pain, have you asked your GP about that?

Hello,

When I told my GP of pain on the upper left arm (why left arm more than other parts of the body?) after starting statin, the response was to take vitamin D!

As an engineer, find a fault and fix it, do not put a fault to fix the first fault, then it becomes a man made problem. Man made problem difficult to find and fix.

I am waiting for my next blood test which is at the end of this month. A decision has to be made on statin!!

My plan is to try and control cholesterol by more life style change.

Hello,

Thank you. Had a look at one video clip. Will try it out.

Paradoxically, most statins increase Vitamin D levels
