Unless there is an extremly good reason for taking statins I would stop taking them. This is a difficult question to answer when you don't tell us anything relevant about yourself.

The only way you are going to find out if the Lipitor is causing the hip pain is to stop taking it and see if the pain gets any better.

Maybe your pain could be something unrelated like arthritis.

I was on that drug and my doctor tried me on several other statins I couldn't take them as I suffer with Arthritis it was making my pain worse. X

As I suggested to previous quest :- try alternatives such as Rose -hip tablets.

I am not too sure how the statins work. I had tremendous pain related trouble with them all until a recent anaesthetic, when as I recovered, about a years dose of pain woke me up, but once resolved, muscle pain had disappeared!!!

So, not sure about the effects of exercise, except that it maintains the muscle tone until pain is resolved.

Still a bid mystery as to what to do Try anything that is acceptable to yourself and see if you get relief, unfortunately doctors do not have any relief meantime - excepting low dose antidepressants, with their side effects to cope with.

Currently some doctors try a drug holiday and monitor actual NEED of the medication - did it help the medical condition, or has the side effect decreased!! and progress from those findings.

I stopped the statins a few months ago and I am still waiting for the pains in my joints to disappear.,I also had to stop NSAIDs as they have affected my heart..

..

we are in a Catch 22 situation, and these Forum do help as we are all learning the causes and side-effects and what they cause.

I am told by Drs, that most patients can take ALL of these pills with NO SIDE EFFECTS,

well bully for them,I know and feel like I have been put in totally unneccesary pain

.

if I had been warned about the side-effects of statins?

I would never have even tried them..

and the Nsaids?I was never told they were Nsaids......I would never have taken them either.....

all we can do is to read here, and hope that some other Patient looking for an answer can find what we all can share....

I have sent for another book off Amazon,I may disappear for a while while I read it all!.cya..
