Does anyone have discoid lupus? If yes I would love to hear more about how you cope with it and if anything has worked for you.
Discoid Lupus: Does anyone have discoid lupus... - Changing Faces
Discoid Lupus
Hi exLover_girl , welcome to the online community, it's lovely to have you here!
It's great that you've reached out with questions about living with lupus, fingers crossed 🤞 that someone here will have an experience they can share with you.
We do have members who have other dermatology conditions which may have quite a bit of overlap with what impact they have - depending on whether there's something in particular you'd like to get answered about, or if you wanted to talk about skin conditions more generally.
Rebecca ~ Changing Faces 🦋
Hi ex lover girl
I have had discoid SLE for over 30 years . I have managed it for a while now and I have gradually weaned myself off the drugs. I have been drugs free for the past two years. It has been a very tough journey but am doing fine now. So there is hope for all of us. Still going to my check ups with the rheumatologist just in case. I am on changing faces site too as I had shingles and Bell’s palsy at the same time , I still suffer a weakness on the leften side of my face I have an asymmetric face with a weakened left eye for which I have Botox injections regularly I have come to terms with the way I look, more Quasimodo than Ismeralda I have got a strong personality with a positive disposition my view now is life is too short to get stressed about the way I look if people are uncomfortable with the way I look, tough This is me deal with it
Don’t despair about your Lupus, I managed my with diet and I had to give up all the things I loved, fresh coffee, red wine, cheese, animal fat, red meat too for a while. I also kept away from night shade Vegs which was really tough, but I survived and I’m sure you will cope too.
All the best.
