Mental Health Awareness week is a good opportunity to think about ways to look after your emotional health. This year’s theme is loneliness.

Our wellbeing practitioner, Eva, shares her advice:

“Lots of people feel lonely sometimes and living with a visible difference can be a cause of loneliness. When someone feels lonely, it can be hard to step out of that feeling. Being sociable can be tiring and take up a lot of energy. For some, this can become a barrier to socialising. As a result, a person can easily be left feeling even more lonely than when they started.

“It’s also entirely possible to feel lonely even whilst when surrounded by people.”

We have lots of guides on our website about overcoming challenges like loneliness and meeting people. Here’s our advice on meeting new people when you have a visible difference: bit.ly/3P7o169
