Good morning everyone,

I've got a good head start on this new week, having woken early. I'm looking out on a silent world that's still dark and eerily quiet, but it's rather nice to hear..... nothing. As a city dweller, in more usual times it's already beginning to be busy out there by 6.30am.

Saying a special 'hi' to anyone who has joined us over the past week. Please feel welcome here. And thanks too to those who have contributed with their posts and replies.

My burning question this morning is, "What's everyone talking about during lockdown"?

I ask, because it's actually beginning to be a bit of a strain to come up with interesting topics when speaking with friends and family. It came to a head for me on Saturday night, when my daughter, noticing I was still online quite late, texted to ask if I felt like a chat, but added a rider saying that it could only be about trivia as her life was feeling so flat.

And indeed it's all becoming a bit of an effort.

First the usual greetings and "how is everyone" and "what have they been doing?" If nothing dramatic's happened then it's "fine, yes fine". An end to that line of enquiry then!

Our pets? "Yes, yes, fine, plus an anecdote or two about the litter tray or an escape outside". Hmmmm.... good!

"Watched anything on TV?" We exchange an idea or two about the latest dramas and box sets. The topic can be stretched for a few minutes if you add in the latest cataclysmic events in the usual soaps.

"What did you have for dinner" can be fertile ground if you've been experimenting, but beware the odd conversation that includes the latest dish you created which only leads to a "yuck" response from your conversation partner.

Now things are becoming a little bit tense as we realise that all that's left is the usual diatribe about politicians and the "idiots who won't observe COVID-19 rules".

Finally the hardest bit of the conversation. The almost relief that it's time to ring off. Hating not being able to say, "see you next week", or "let's meet up for lunch".

And that moment when you do finally ring off, suddenly remembering that one vital exciting thing you did have to tell the other person and forgot..... darn it!

What are all of you managing to find to talk about?

In any case, I hope that you have a good upcoming week!

Good morning Callendersgal,

Well I’m feeling a bit slovenly compared to your good self as I didn’t wake up until 7.45! Lol.

Greetings to any newcomers. Everyone is welcome here.

What are we talking about? That made me smile because I phoned a friend yesterday and we did ok for a while but then started to falter. The usual “how are you’s” etc. but then what? I ended up asking about my friends mother and cousins. She always asks about our family so I chatted a bit about them. I must remember tv next time.

It’s difficult to know what to speak about because we’re not going anywhere or doing anything. At least next time we speak I can talk a bit more about our daughter and family moving house. Exciting stuff and we’re pleased for them.

Keep going everyone, this will all get better one day, hopefully soon.

Have as good a week as possible and keep talking.

Love to all xxx👍💖🤷‍♀️😘

Hi sassy59, I don't think we can castigate you for not getting up till 7.45! That would be my normal 'good' day!The conversation thing is a bit of a poser isn't it, and I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling. At least my daughter and I laugh about it, and I think close family and really good friends can always do that and manage to get by!

Yes, really exciting about your daughter's move. It'll certainly be something new to talk about and so lovely for the family to have something major to look forward to. Sending them my good wishes for a smooth move and much happiness in their new home.

Now it's actually light it's a beautiful day outside, and so much easier to face a new week. You give great advice about keeping going. Things will get better and if we can just manage to stay strong and get through each day, we will get to the finish line eventually.

Hope you too have a good week sassy59 and lots to talk about at the end of it! 👍😊🙏🤣🌈🔆 xxx

Thank you for your kind reply Callendersgal, I do appreciate your posts.

We’re hoping our daughter and family will be happy in their new home. I just feel awful that I can’t really be of any help but I know they’ll be ok. Such a lot to do. I’ve no plans to move anytime soon. Lol.

It’s a lovely day here too and the sunshine makes me feel good. Onwards and upwards.

Take care xxxx❤️💖😘👍💜
