Quotation for Wednesday 3rd June 2020

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share a quotation originally from philosopher George Santayana. It was famously re-quoted in the House of Commons by Winston Churchill in 1948. I expect a lot of you will know it already, but I think it's worth re-quoting one more time.

"Those who fail to learn the lessons of history, are doomed to repeat them".

I'd say that some of the lessons of history are worth repeating, but there are many which we are doomed to revisit time and time again, because we fail to remember history's events and learn from them.

What do you think we'll have learned from the lesson which this pandemic has sent us?

Have a good day today everyone, and please continue to keep yourselves safe.

An excellent quote and I do wonder if we learn from mistakes made as many seem to continue to be made. Let’s hope this pandemic brings about change for the good. A better distribution of wealth would be a start plus equality in general for all. We’ll see.

Enjoy your day one and all. Thank you Callendersgal. Xxxx😘💖😀🌈

That would be amazing sassy59, but somehow I think greed always wins out, unfortunately! Still we can hope. I hope we'll make at least a few basic changes. As you say, let's wait and see! 🙏👍😀xxxx

An excellent quote I am not hopeful we will learn too much from it. Looking at wars and their lasting effects, much of the world does not seem to learn from the consequences - they carry on happening.

Sorry to be gloomy guts but for all that we have to keep our faith in the Lord and believe we will move into a better world.

Don’t think this came out the way I meant to say it.

Have a good day and take care of yourselves.

Best wishes

I do agree Katie019. Even thinking back over my own life, things just repeat and repeat and despite the fact that humans have the power of thought, nature's plan for the survival of the fittest seems to top most efforts to make the world a kinder place. But we have to keep trying, even if we only manage to temper the laws of nature! 🙏
