is lazer eye treatment dangerous
I had one eye done. So simple, I didn't even know she had finished. I asked her who would be doing it and she said she had already done it. Just a few popping sounds, well worth it.
Yes great but can you still see? I have according to the optician I have debris behind my eye caused by the hospital doing my catarach and it seems to have broken or whatever. What was yours done for ?
Mine was done as a result of the whole cataract not being removed. Apparently it is sometimes hard to get it all and the bit left can start making the vision worse. I can see very well, as can friends who have had laser treatment. My mother had a cataract removed at 98 years old and many friends have had cataracts and laser treatment at over 80 years old. Everyone seems to have good vision now.
Hi eastridingbigden,
That's a smashing picture! I haven't had any personal experience of laser eye surgery, but I've got several friends who have over past years, and both had absolutely no problems whatever. It was simple and painless.
There's one other acquaintance of mine who had the treatment and then had trouble with blurred vision and that was later corrected by a second treatment.
I think there's probably a small risk, as with any surgery, but I'd say it was far from dangerous and you'd almost certainly be at no risk whatever. Hope that helps, and best wishes to you.
Thank you callendersgal your reply helps me to make a decision, keep smiling
I'm 82,diabetic , strokes heart attack , etc. About 3/4 years ago , I had a torn retina ,& my eyesight was threatened by tiny leaking blood vessels around both eyes , the latter due to diabetes. A succession of eye consultants at Dumfries hospital gave me many sessions of laser treatment . The result is I'm still driving, have 20/20 vision & can drive until 85. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. You don't feel anything , & are only aware of a very bright light. All my blood vessels are sealed & retina repaired. I can read the charts down to the bottom line with my glasses. The improvement is immediate. Nothing at all to worry about Best of luck . Toofworc
thank you toofworc looks has if I have nothing to worry about so fingers crossed, the reason I say that is because our hospital is a teaching hospital and sometimes they let the students do the treatment, for instance they was 2 hours doing one cataract and it was supposed to be 45 mins well will make mind up soon. thanks again for your reply
I wore spectacles from the age of 18 months to 56 years. I inherited a little money when 56 and decided to have laser surgery for both short and long sightedness. The modern computer controlled laser are incredibly precise. I have had 20/20 vision for 10 years now, and have a check up every 2 years. No problems at all.
