I have noticed on a few threads where some comments I would deem as offensive,and I believe we have a duty to be pleasant and nice at all times,as some people are struggling with problems only known to them,beit end of life care,inoperable health issues ,financial and often the carer is quite ill themselves,and rather than being rude it is far nicer to lift the spirits of those who are suffering than making comments which are hurtful,and everyone has a right to only disclose what they wish others to know without disclosing the full picture,its called privacy.

Non of us know what may befall us and a bit of compassion goes a long way.

I must admit that I’ve not noticed anything like that secrets as we all discourage offensive and upsetting comments.

We agree it costs nothing to be polite. But we are not aware of any offensive posts. We act very promptly as moderators to remove such posts and report them to HU Admin. May we encourage to flag up by using the reporting facility under the 'more' tab at the end of the post to let HU admin know. We cannot follow up things we are not aware of. But it is a salutary reminder that we must comply with the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use that everyone agreed to on joining HU, and be careful about post contents, and respecting each other.

In particular, on this forum, the members are very supportive and compassionate to each other and we are very pleased with the way everyone responds here to each other needs.

I am sorry that you find this secrets22. I too haven't found anything offensive apart from a few posts on your own recent thread that were rather unkind and not wholly relevant to your original post.

Discussion about political and funding issues can create bad feeling, as can be seen in the aforementioned thread. The situation is as it is and we can only navigate our way through the system as best we can, although it can be hard. Complaining about it on this particular forum is not going to change things.

It is difficult to reply sometimes because instinctively one wants to help but as you say, members do not always disclose the full picture and it is their right not to do so. The advice might not be welcome so it can sometimes be best just to sympathize and leave it at that. We are all in this together and need to support each other in any way we can.

Very well put , there is no need to be offensive but on occassions some of us do let out our frustrations on different subjects in our communities. It is only varied opinions, all kinds of support are needed on Healthunlocked sites, including supporting peoples frustration at their circumstances.

One of the things I love about this forum is that generally speaking, members are extremely nice and are careful not to get into abrasive comments with each other. But, like you, I have seen that trend once or twice recently.

It would be better if it didn't happen at all. It helps no-one to get into mutual tit-for-tat commenting. I think those threads are just best ignored to be honest. That way they burn themselves out quickly, or they reach a point where they breach our own rules and can be reported.

But yes, let's just be nice to each other. We deal with some harrowing life and death stuff here, especially again in the past few days for some of us.
