Kangaroo courts private managers charter for abuses.
What as quality care commission said about current system and private managers WHEN It comes to looking after wellfair and Liberty and abuses of power accountability.
Something tells me it’s horrendus and if subject think I would worry about wellfair.
Prisoners have use of human rights act WHY have not those who at at sharp end of depravation of liberty orders OR managers wim
Hi JAS, we’re going through the court of protection proceedings at this moment with Petes mum. She has vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s and is in a care home where she’s lived for over a year.
Sadly when she went into the home she was unhappy and wanted to leave, this was seen as a deprivation of her liberty so hence the court being involved months later when she’s now settled and happy.
It’s all very stressful but mother in law has her rights and that’s a good thing. I just wish the powers that be would visit her and see how things have changed as well as how frail she now is.
Hope you’re dads doing ok and you too of course. Xxxx
Hi sassy was reading law as dwp have been trying to use it With world famous assessors .
Anyway did worry me about time scales and redress if victim of deprivation of liberty.
Like you say wheels turn ever so slow
Hi JeffAjaxSmith,
I was wondering just the other day how you and your dad are getting on, so it's good to see you back on our forum. Mental health is such a complicated thing isn't it, and in the past there have been dreadful cases of abuse of vulnerable people, some of whom ended up spending almost entire lives in institutions for reasons that were more around morality than mental incapacity.
As sassy59 and her family know to their cost, the mills of justice grind exceedingly slow, and for her mum in law, much too slow to be useful, but generally it's probably a really good thing that the court of protection is there to intervene in disputes arising over the rights of a vulnerable person.
But it's really good that people like yourself are vigilant too and take notice of legislation that can be misapplied. We all owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to be aware, in the way that you have.
I do hope that you and your mum and dad are doing OK, and it was good to hear from you. Very best wishes.

Hi Callendersgal cheers n thanks we are surviving.
As to bill it makes for quite shocking reading especially as can be applied to anyone even if they have mental capacity.
Guess that’s how dwp have been able to threaten people with doctors ambulance’s if talk about mental health.
From what I read is open to abuses and redress could take forever.
If ever am under such order be making sure I have appropriate adult who is qualified protecting my rights before I go anywhere.
