Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I was lucky enough to have been on a cruise to France for a long weekend, during some of the most glorious weather we've had this year.
During the cruise there was an excursion to Monet's house and gardens at Giverny, something that's been on my bucket list of things to do for years, and although the visit was brief, it was absolutely amazing to gaze at the pond in the Japanese garden, where Monet painted his famous waterlilies.
But it made me feel very small and insignificant to see the crowds of people who were also there, and who apparently come every day to see, and to realize the greatness of legacy that Monet left us. Nothing I've done in my life would ever have people flocking to see it in the same way.
But then I got to thinking about what unsung heroes carers are, who do just as much monumental work, that's not seen as Monet's is, but that matters just as much and more.
If there had been no Monet, we would never have seen those amazing paintings that have made him so famous. A sad thought, but there are many very famous artists. But if there were no carers, what a really dreadful state the world would be in.
So this morning, here's to every single person who is or has been, or will be a carer. The work that you are all doing is every bit as great as Monet's paintings.
