Hi. Callendersgal wanted to know if we are all OK. Well: Monday morning the estate agent phoned as we still have no date for moving to the bungalow. As our current carer goes away on June 24th I said that I need to be moved before then. The removal people then phoned me back and advised that they can only do one day that week and then Social Services phoned about my not being able to find a weekend carer in the new town. I finally took Nigel for his day care. In the afternoon I had my appointment about my required hip operation. I was told I could have it done about the same time as we move in a treatment centre in another part of the county or in 18/20 weeks time very near where we will be living. Three times during the consultation Nigel phoned ( I am the only number on his very very simple mobile phone) asking why I had not picked him up. Tuesday: Nigel not well. I took a urine sample down to the surgery whilst our carer was still with us. The GP phoned at lunch time and said that it was ok so maybe something else was going on so I needed to take him to the Acute Medical Unit as he may have had a stroke, which I very much doubted, so I said I could not as I was going for my second annual post breast cancer check and it was ME time and they don't allow men in the inner waiting room of the Breast Care Centre, so GP says 'When are you going?' I say 'in 30 minutes' and he says 'I will be with you in 10' !! He arrived, Nigel found to have a chest infection so antibiotics requested by GP from the village Chemist. Doctor goes, sister arrives, I go. Two hours later I get text saying can I pick up the antibiotics on my way home as the chemist cannot deliver them, but the breast care centre are running late so I knew that I would not be home before the chemist shuts! Our lovely carer responded to my phone call plea and picked them up and delivered them to my sister. This morning Wednesday: Nigel a little better. Certainly not as seized up and slightly more steady but when I turned my back to see to obey demands from our cat Nigel turned the wrong way and instead of heading for his chair he got his zimmer frame muddled up with a box I had been packing and ended up sitting in it ! Half and hour later just after I had retrieved him, pulled my hip and become very hot and sweaty, our carer came and I went off to my darling 'Other Mum's' funeral. I know she would not have minded me being a bit dishevelled and we would have laughed about it. I miss her so much. Wonder what the rest of the week will bring ? Guess I am ok as I am still here and surviving. Ali B
My week so far: Hi. Callendersgal wanted to... - Care Community
My week so far
What a mixed bag Ali. Hoping the week and Nigel improve. Good luck with that hip, it really needs sorting but where and when?
Your move needs to go smoothly and I truly hope it does. Wishing you all the very best. Xxx 😘
Hi AliBee1, what a difficult week you have had. I hope Nigel is feeling better and things are easier for you. All the best with the move and I hope you will soon be feeling better. Best wishes.
Hi AliBee1
Thanks for giving us all a really comprehensive insight into how your week is going to date. I'm happy to hear that you've got some positives, but clearly you've had more than your share of challenges too, so best wishes for all that you are facing at present. It's good to know you are hanging in and surviving and sometimes I suppose that's all we can manage to do.
For myself it's been an average week, except that I did one more Scottish country dance than my knees appreciated at my session on Tuesday night, so I've been creaking along a bit this week. I really must try to remember that I'm 70, not 17!
Stay as strong as you obviously are, and best wishes for the rest of your week. Wouldn't it be great if you got some good news about your upcoming move to the bungalow?
