My thanks go to everyone who responded regarding my PIP claim being unsuccessful, when I sent in the claim form I sent my CVI (all pages), a couple of weeks before the medical assessment, purely by chance, I had a checkup at the hospital (I've got glaucoma), the GP letter from the hospital arrived a few days before the assessment and on the visual acuity results I've got a reading for the right eye, left not even mentioned!!!!
My left eye has struggled with successful cataract surgery at the end of 2015, the hospital have found it difficult to sort, resulting last October in being registered blind. Since then my feet haven't touched the floor sending off paperwork, having hospital and GP appts ( I've now got high blood pressure, due I'm sure to events over the last couple of years). I managed to get a low vision clinic appt in January, something else I had to fight the hospital for, got a lovely prescription for distance, got a pair of varifocals made up, couldn't read in them, despite phone calls to the Consultants secretary to see what to do, she rang me a couple of days after low vision appt as consultant wanted to know how I was getting on with the new specs, I eventually managed to get hold of low vision clinic, was advised to go back to optician to check fit etc, they were fine, so decided to try bifocals, reading slightly better but not able to do concentrated close work, back to optician last week, new prescription has reading one dioptre higher than what I'm wearing, so reading is being reduced to what I'm wearing and if this doesn't work I'll be in 2 separate pairs, after going through all this over the last 6 months I'm still unsure about whether or not to follow up my PIP claim, I'm having phone counselling with the RNIB and when we spoke yesterday my councillor said she hears this time and time again, I want to have a life as I haven't had much of one recently and I want to close the chapter on this part of my life but am I doing the right thing....
