I have a distant relative (female aged 83) who is showing signs of ? dementia. How do i get a Gp to assess her, as she will be cross if i "interfere" when i want to help.

Good morning LilyOps6 and welcome to this caring and supportive community. This is a tough one for you to tackle. Are there any close relatives that you could speak with. Perhaps one that this relative likes and trusts? Sometimes you just have to be there for that person, making sure that they are in a safe environment, visiting on a regular basis etc. You don't say a lot about the circumstances so perhaps sharing some more information might help the community help your situation. Some of the 'pinned posts and 'topics' maybe helpful too.

Are there any members in this community that have experienced this problem and can share their thoughts with this caring new member please?

Good luck.

Maybe you could just say the doctor needs to chat to her as a matter of course due to her age. Make up a story and see what happens.

I wish you well and let us know what happens. Xxxxx
