I'm 68 and fairly in good health with fibromyalgia pain that is not an illness but conditions.

I like to help a friend with Alzheimer's. Need help to understand it.

Do you know the author of Alzheimer's request? My husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and a lot in the little poem says what I think he is trying to ask me. I fall short more often than not but must persevere

Hi Karamadmare!

I'm a Dementia Friend Champion and attending a Dementia Friend information session would be a great way to understand dementia. have a look on the Dementia Friends website to either find a session to attend or I believe you can do the session online. Thank you for wanting to help a friend in need, many people avoid people with dementia and they just do not understand it.

Thanks Swarwick.

I think we all need to know about dementia because we don't know what going to happen in future.

It is very scary to even think about it

We don't know the feeling of the person going through.

All we need to do is try to understand

What they trying to say to us.

You're welcome here is a link to the website dementiafriends.org.uk/

It's a very scary place for you and your friend, I wish dementia friends where around when my mum was diagnosed, it would have helped me understand so much more. Also Alzheimer's Research UK have just design a virtual reality app to actually walk in the shoes of someone living with dementia its amazing and currently available on android awalkthroughdementia.org/

Good luck!

In the U.S., contact the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 helpline 1-800-272-3900. They will answer your questions. I hope someone will post here contact info for people in the U.K. I enjoy knowing that people on both sides of the ocean are helping each other.
