He rarely sleeps for more than 4 hrs through the night and has periods of screaming dispite being cuddled. He gets so tired bless him.

Yes, my son was like this. I pushed my paediatrician to complete a barium meal scan to check that his stomach etc were ok. They were, thankfully.

We tried lots of anti reflex medicines. Ranitidine, domperidon and omiprazol are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Omiprazol was the one that helped my son the most, but he did grow out of the worst of it. He's 9 months now. He is still sick but doesn't get any colic or tummy pains any more and he is sick far less often.

They also investigated dietary intolerance with my son. We found he was intolerant to cows milk and ended up on a special prescribed formula. That helped a lot with his tummy pains.

Good luck. I hope that you find something to help soothe your little one and that they grow out of it soon. I do remember all to well how hard it is when they do nothing but feed, cry and be sick.

Thanks MumtoTwo. Hopefully it's just a time thing. Still awaiting first scan date so hopefully be able to rule any serious problems out soon.

Our little girl, now 2 and a half, regularly wakes during the night. Initially we thought this was due to her enlarged tongue restricting her airflow. On further examination, it transpired that she has sleep apnea. she periodically stops breathing during the night and awakens when her body's defence mechanisms kick in telling her to restart breathing. An overnight sleep observation study was necessary to determine this. It's not as serious a condition as it sounds anx helped my partner and I to stop worrying about potentially worse scenarios.
