At my worst I just turned up - regardless of not being able to hear as tinnitus was so loud. It is not easy but my circle of friends either have tinnitus or know someone who has. Once you start talking you know you are not alone. Turning up gets easier the more you do it.

through the carnage that caused all this ear crap, I've lost all my friends, turns out they weren't really friends, just me and a small section of family that just cant get their heads round what their actions do to me, and you cant tell kids to ssshhhh at this time of year, so, isolation for me again.....why bother!!

Im with you with this. Missing out on the party's cause the music is to loud and my earplugs just make me aware I probably shouldn't be there. As far as children go I have two tiny screamers so no escaping that one but I also feel that hiding from to much can also make you ears seem worse aswell. I had really bad noise sensitivity but it has got alot better. I am investing in some custom mould ear protection so it doesn't feel so alien in my ear and I know it's being inserted properly. Might be worth looking.

hey Claire, unfortunately i have lost all faith in maskers, ear plugs, the miracle cure...etc, etc,...i'v got hyperacusis and hearing loss aswell, losing my hearing seems to be the easiest to deal with...wtf...anyway, hope you get some relief, even if just for a while.

peace

You have to focus on the things you can do not the things you can't do.

I had to give up TV, radio, cinema, for a time but little by little I found ways to improvise by using headphones and masking devices.. Now for me it's just a different way of watching TV and listening, not bad or worse just different

hi, me too, tv, films etc are murder,....always miss part of convo or scene because external noise has pulled my attention away.....missing vital information in films makes them to hard to watch.....brutal, so...pointless...

I miss my old life

Hi, have you tried using subtitles? Won't help the t, but definitely easier to watch films etc.

thanks Ingrid, the mental side of it is tough...gotta watch with subs is defeatist...makes me feel like putting a disabled sticker on me.

just feeling the mental side of it very tough

I don't see it as defeatist if it's going to help you. I've watched with subtitles for years. My family accept that when they're watching with me, we can only watch programmes with subtitles.

It's so hard living with t, mine is the worst it's been since i first got it. The thought of it being this loud for the rest of my life is so hard to accept. I'm sure it will settle down once I stop giving it the attention that it wants, but who knows how long that will be? My hearing is getting worse and with that my t is getting louder, great 😡

We need a cure, but what research is actually being done? We seem to have been forgotten 😭
