Hi all i have suffered Severe Tinnitus for 15 years. at 4.5Htz. it is constant and loud. Dr’s have no idea how to deal with it. i have been driven into Dark places many times. and its only my Strength that has stopped me ending my life. i call mine ( The Black Dog ). i wish there was help. but i have done the course. many GP’s. local hospital. and The john Radcliffe in oxford UK. which is one of the top hospitals in the uk. with no chance of help.

so if there is any Medical Institutes with clinical Trials Going on now or in the future please consider me.

Good morning Christian. I'm sorry to read that your tinnitus is causing you distress. If you want to keep an eye on current and future clinical trials, the National Institute for Health Research is one website to keep an eye on - bepartofresearch.nihr.ac.uk/

The current research which we're aware of is usually listed on this page on the BTA website - tinnitus.org.uk/Pages/Categ...

I hope this helps.

as you are aware. not all of us can be given a helping hand for relief. as to my post. i have been seen by many Dr’s and consultants. i'm sure they would have helped is they could. i have even had a lovely Consultant who got up set that she could not help me. even when she could clearly graph the frequency damaged 4.4Hz.

regards

Hi Chris, it is really sad to hear how badly your tinnitus is affecting you but well done for not giving in to it. It is interesting that you have been able to pinpoint the frequency, I have not managed to do that. Have you considered going to a private clinic? I am currently undergoing treatment at the Tinnitus Clinic in London’s Harley Street, my Audiologist is Mark Williams and the treatment I am having is called TDT or Tinnitus Desensitisation Therapy, which involves wearing in-ear devices that mimic the frequency of the brain-generated sound (the Tinnitus), with the idea being to retrain the brain to tune out the frequency - the fact you know the frequency of yours may well help as it will mean that setting up the devices (if TDT is the appropriate treatment) is easier for them. I am about half way through the six month programme so cannot yet say how effective it will be, but if you are interested you can find out more on their website about this or one of their other treatments (thetinnitusclinic.co.uk). Sadly, the treatments are not covered by bupa (which I am lucky enough to have through my job), but bupa did cover the £300 cost of the initial ENT and Audiological consultation at the clinic. Whilst I appreciate that these treatments are by no means cheap, they do offer payment plans to help people who can’t pay up front, but the way I see it is that if I can afford to spend a couple of thousand on a car then why wouldn’t I use that money for my health instead and buy a car that cost me less than £500. Anyway, sorry for going off on a tangent, but I hope and pray this reply points you to somewhere that can help you start to beat the tinnitus.

God bless, John.
