Hi everyone, my GP prescribed me a Flutter device this week. Hopefully it will help I'm just getting used to it. But wondered do I need to sterilise it on a regular basis if so how, I wash it daily. Thank you for your help. Jo xcc

Hi it's just called "flutter".

Hi LizPat, Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't like to use devices that don't come from reputable companies and that aren't packed with instructions for use, cleaning, and disinfecting. It worries me that it's just called 'flutter' and that you don't seem to have instructions on cleaning and disinfecting it. If it'ss the kind of device I think it is - i.e., a PEP with a vibrating valve, then I would rather go for an Aerosure or an Aerobika. I tried both and prefer the Aerosure, although it is more expensive. I don't find that such devices are enough to clear my mucous though - unless I first use nebulised hypertonic saline. It's the nebulised hypertonic saline that actually does the job for me. Everyone is different though. All the best, Ozzie

Thanks Ozzie, Flutter is the trademark name and I've researched and it's a device that's recommended and used by hospitals etc which I assume is why this one was prescribed to me. There are instructions on washing the device but my question was do I need to sterilise it as well. Thank you for your interest Jo.

I have an acapella device and use an electric steam steriliser (the type used for baby bottles).
