Hi nannyx6

This is pretty rubbish from your doctor they should at least tell you where you can get one. I had fit to fly tests done at hospital in the same place they do the lung function tests. I was an impatient at the time and wanted to do a flight to Scotland the day after I was discharged. It may be worth speaking to your consultants secretary to see if they can organise something- unless you have specialist nurses who may be a better bet. Jet2 have advised me to get a doctors note to get my nebuliser through security at the airport and I have been told that the doctors no longer do notes for that either. I have telephone appointment next week to discuss. You could also call Jet2s helpline. They seem really good easy to talk to. Good luck it’s so unfair when they make it so difficult to have a holiday that you do desperately need.

Hi Mooka, the trouble is im not under the hospital and my resp team going to have fit to fly test but could only do it end of August and i am due to fly end of July, my doctor said he doesn't know enough about me to do letter, i am so upset because i am feeling well and not had to go to the doctors i am being penalised, i phoned the lung foundation for advice and they agreed the doctor can look up notes etc but they cant be bothered , i have this feeling our holiday isnt going to happen :(

Hi nannyx6 I’m so sorry your doctor is being such a pain. Is there another doctor you can see the in the practice?

caa.co.uk/Passengers/Before...

The caa suggest that you speak to the airline or ask your doctor to speak to the caa for advice.

It does sound like your gp can’t be bothered so maybe another gp would be more sympathetic to your problems. You know yourself if you are fit enough. I had to cancel a holiday a few years ago because my doctor said it was too polluted where we were going. Tbh I was really worried about being ill while we were away anyway. Perhaps you could ask to speak to the practice manager to explain the problem? I really feel your pain x

Have to tried googling private fit to fly certification? There seems to be plenty of places around London that are happy to access you. I.e doctap. If you try googling with your location something may come up for you. X
