Further to a recent CT scan I was told I had bands of atelectasis in one of my lungs, mucus plugs and signs of mild bronchiectasis in one of my tubes. Has anyone had any experience with atelectasis and is it reversible if the mucus can be cleared. I was a bit alarmed when I read about it!
also been colonised with pseudomonas but I’ve found some helpful tips on here to try and keep that at bay. What a journey of discovery! 😩

I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis in 2018 after a similar CT scan result, ie areas of atelectasis, mucus plugs, blocking and ”floppy” bronchs.
My consultant referred me for a bronchoscopy for further invesigation. I had that a couple of months later and during the bronchoscopy procedure they also did a ”lung wash”.
They found nothing worrying, it was just mucus blockage causing the atelectasis. They also found staph aureus bacteria so I was put on antibiotics for 2weeks (Doxycycline)
At my follow up CT scan the atelectasis had cleared and lungs were in better shape.
I had most of your symptoms while in the Army the said asthma after many bouts of chest infections and feeling poorly, I went for tests at the hospital with a specialist and she diagnosed bronchiectasis never heard of it she showed me the xray with the shading, I have completed a pace course (people of similar symptoms and copd ) exercises and how to cope have spare med at home if symptoms come on and when on holiday. So we know how feel hang in there. shop.asthmaandlung.org.uk/p...
