Hi Janlyn, There are some really nice members on the Bronchiectasis HU forum who may be able to help you. I have RA and do see a respiratory consultant re my RA med side effects but it’s not for what you are asking about. Hope someone can help with your question. I do know a few people here have chest issues too though so hopefully they may have some info. x
Forgive me for jumping in this thread. I had a diagnosis of Chronic Allergic Pulmonary Aspergillious iEg 5000 and this gave me Bronchiectasis. My asthma was uncontrollable and infections were crazy. I’ve been on predisilone for over two years now and various oral meds for each further infections and Ciprofloxacin for pseudomonas. Now I’m on Colomycin, inhaled twice daily as can’t shake off pseudomonas. I also have had a staphylococcus Aureus infection over the last year and again it’s a pesky problem to reduce. My hospital trained me on home IVs and I’ve so many now all various meds and these keep me going. The downside is cannulated veins so I have a permanent picc line now. I’m scrupulous with lung clearance and am under the asthma team with a probable chance of biologics.
So, I really feel your anguish it’s caused not only my health but work to suffer as I’m never well enough. Maybe it’s worth asking for a specialist in your area for further advice? Hope you have some respite. Good luck! Do write if you need moral support.
Hello.Thank you for your reply.
I have no idea about your medication.
I have not heard of the things you mentioned.
I noway suffer so badly as you do, which I am so sorry to read it must be terrible for you.
I just have this mould allergy, and get quite breathless a lot now, I'm waiting for my CT Scan results.
I just take inhalers, I found taking steroids for a while were doing me no good.
So until my results come through I struggle on.
I don't think stress helps, as I've had a lot of that recently loosing my wonderful dog of 16years, she was my life as I live alone.
The shock and upset of that started off a bad chest infection so on antibiotics and couldn't have my booster covid injection.
Until hopefully this week.
I do hope you improve soon.
Take care
Janet.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss and can understand the stress. 💐
Hi, i was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia about ten years ago but not given any medication so used to just take over the counter acid medication . Fast forward to 2019 and i caught a chest infection from my friend, doc insisted my chest was clear but whenit didnt clear uo and i was wheezing coughing etc, iwas finally given 5 days of antibiotics then steroids, nasal spray, chest x ray and finally a sputum test. This revealed a fungal infection. As i was still unwell after clearing that i wasfinally sent for a ct scan, 9 months later i was finally told i had bronchiectasis probably caused by acid reflux, the consultant asked me why i hadnt been put on medication !!I was put omeprazol, carbosistiene and blue and brown inhalers. The omeprazol didnt agree with me so after trying a few i finally found pantoprazol which is fine for me ,theinhalersdidntdo any goodso now i take up to4 puffs a day of fostair inhaler.
