Bronchiectasis - associated with heart condition?

I read somewhere that those with bronchiectasis can develop heart disease. Does anyone know if this is right?

Hi Lizzab

Not sure about that except for the fact that the heart and lungs work together. I am on statins purely because of a strong family history of heart disease and although I have bronchiectasis appear to be the only one of four siblings without heart disease.

I try to get plenty of exercise through walking in the warmer part of the year and did 5 miles today.

I'm sure another member will be able to answer your question fully.

Best wishes.

Thank you Sandy I appreciate your reply. Five miles is very good. I can manage that too but only on a really good day. I'm working hard at that to improve it. Walking for heart health is I know very important.

Hi Lizzab, I am not sure 'am on the right site. But will answer anyone with similar lung issues.

I lived in the state of Nebraska, and moved to Florida. I have suffered from allergic rhinitis for years. I am 69 yrs old.

Now I am suffering from asthma it's uncomplicated but it's bothersome to say the least.

I don't care for some of the meds they're so eager to hand out today as I believe they can cause even more damage to the lungs.

I find the nebulizer is more effective with me than inhalers. The positive effects are easier breathing and longer lasting.

Taking copious notes of my daily routine and history i write my reactions to foods, meds, and the environment, I am seeing a connection of worsening asthma symptoms in heavy condensed vegetation and high humidity.

Oops! Palm Beach Gardens, FL is beautiful, but too many palms in my area. 🙄 I am taking 3 times more medication for asthma here in FL than I did in NE.

Thank you. That's interesting to hear about nebulisation and detailed note taking. About six weeks I had three exceptional days of feeling incredibly well but unfortunately have no idea why! If I had been meticulous in note taking maybe I would know and be able to repeat. Thanks for posting. Good health!

Hi back!

Lizzab, yes take notes! Oh how wonderful exceptional days feel! 🤗 They are here right now! Humidity is ...way down!

Take your daily records of time of day, food, meds, exercise, what was applied to the skin, hair (hair color, bleach) etc. and weather.

Add your methodology to your particular diagnosis. And read a lot about the posible outcomes of treatments.

Nebulizing with meds reach deeper - all the way to the bottom of the lungs where the inhalers can't.

Thank you!

Stay well! 🙋🏼

That's a lot of detail, I hadn't thought of all that. Will do. Thank you!
